Part Two of One of my new concept illustration art for my upcoming fan-fiction rewrite of Sonic The Hedgehog. Here is part one: theredstranger.deviantart.com/…. Plan to do another just like this, with an alternate mood and color scheme to convey his more angry volitile state.
Sonic fan that I am, I have never really liked this Creepy Pasta - it is very, very silly and it's original source material very...unprofessionally written.
However...
I saw potential in making this character a good doppelganger and dramatic foil for Tails in my upcoming episodic story series, and other fans seem to like the mythos around this character. That, and I love a challenge, and toning down a two dimensional creepy-pasta monster into a fully developed and more subtly executed creepy villain seemed to be a rewarding challenge.
About the character (spoiler free):
The character has had a massive rewrite and I am not going to give anything away except that he definitely has it out for the Freedom Fighters, especially Tails. Unlike most things Sonic has faced, this creature uses emotional manipulation, flattery, and guile to lure unsuspecting Freedom Fighters into his own devices and into the depths of intrigue. His calm blue light, his soft playful voice, and innocent demeanor acts like a sirens call to the unprepared and the uninitiated. Despite his superficial calm attitude, deeper down he is emotionally volatile, the hues of his light conveying his change of mood. Somehow, he depends on people paying attention or becoming more attached to him. He especially seems to crave this attention from children and people who have had or have great emotional turmoil in their lives.
What worries Tails is that seemingly each time they confront the creature, the more real “the doll” seems to become, the more like him it acts. Slowly it copies his looks, mannerisms, and even subconscious and inward emotions.
And yes, he will sing a creep version of Can you Feel The Sunshine in the story as sort of calling card, even that will have a cool and creepy backstory to it .
